Anger.

Name-calling.

Trolls.

Same old epithets hurled back and forth.

Living in bubbles, hearing only those who agree with us.

We all know this is where the world is right now. We all wish it wasn’t. How do we break out of it? We think this blog can help. Our goal is to look at issues, let go of preconceptions, not worry about which team thinks what, and try to put some truth out there.

It’s not about splitting it down the middle. Sometimes one team is pretty close to right, and we will say so when that’s true. Sometimes everyone is missing important stuff. Sometimes everyone has a piece of it right, and we will try to put those pieces together.

Our hope? That people will read this. That they will see that no one is calling them a name or throwing insults. That they will let down their guard a bit and be willing to think and listen. That sometimes, just sometimes, the reader will say “maybe these folks are right. Maybe there is some truth that doesn’t fit exactly what my group has been saying.” That we will start moving people together and all of us towards solutions rather than catchphrases.

No miracles. Just honest attention to details, to different points of view, to truth.
